The last two times I've 'fallen in love with' a work of fiction and gotten involved in its fandom, I've written an essay about how I became a fan of that work, why I like it so much, and what being a fan has been like so far. Before that, I also wrote two other LJ entries describing how I got into two of my earlier fandoms. I've recently gotten into yet another fandom, so this entry is the fifth in my series of essays on that topic. All previous entries in the series are filed under my "newestfandom" tag, but it's neither necessary nor required that you read the previous ones first.

(I've realized that I never wrote one of these for "House" when I started getting into it last year. Oops. Maybe I should write a mini-post about why I like it.)

Cut because it's LONG. Spoilers for Inception, of course. Also, the scene that ends both the movie and graphic-novel versions of Watchmen is alluded to, though not described. )

My winner's certificate for this year's NaArMaMo has some text on it that required some creativity to write, so I used it as my August Writing entry for the day.

A Letter of Appreciation )

I've been working on this story a little bit at a time for the last few days, but haven't had time to post it until now.

The AA Awakening )

Yesterday, I wrote three more haiku. Today, I started writing out one of the adventures that I imagined my character, Christy, going on when I was younger.

Yesterday I wrote another haiku. Today I wrote (and recorded) an audio segment for a podcast I listen to, Jack Mangan's Deadpan Podcast.

Dumb Memories of Cicadas )

Today, I wrote this dialogue among three characters from Pirates of the Caribbean. This is my second PotC fanfic on LiveJournal, and it's also my daily entry for the [livejournal.com profile] august_writing challenge. This entry is a response to the exercise for August 21: "Write a page (or more) of dialog without allowing any character to say more than 5 words per line."

Familiar Faces )

Yesterday I wrote another haiku; here's the link. Today, I wrote the second half of another short story I've been working on.

Truce at Cayucos )

I did it! I finally got to the end of "Christy's Reawakening!" I'm so happy to have this thing done! And yes, I realize that I haven't shared the beginning of the story with [livejournal.com profile] august_writing, but that's because I wrote it before August. At some point in the (hopefully) near future, the entire story will be posted to my personal website.

Today's excerpt is the longest I've posted yet. Some of it was written before today, but the majority was written today.

Conversations over coffee, tea, and lunch )

Yesterday, the 15th, was another haiku day for me. Here's what I wrote.

Today, I wrote another snippet of "Christy's Reawakening." This continues on from the last one I posted.

Around Town )

I went with my dad to photograph band camp today, so today's writing piece was inspired by that. I also made use of the writing exercise for August 6: "Write a paragraph (or more) using only words of one syllable."

Break Time )

The story continues. This is the beginning of the next scene, which takes place the morning after the snippet I posted yesterday.

Waking up in Daydream Dome )

Yesterday, I wrote another haiku. Today, it's another snippet of my story "Christy's Reawakening."

Christy is sitting up at night and thinking. )

Today I wrote a scene that takes place a year or two prior to the events of my incomplete short story, "Secrets of the ORCAS." This scene was written in response to [livejournal.com profile] august_writing's writing prompt for August 4th, which was:
"A phone rings in the middle of the night.
Who is it?
What do they want?
In what way does this change everything?"

The Phone Call )

I added another small section to "Christy's Reawakening" today. Progress is being made, very slowly.

Today's snippet )

Today I worked on one of my short stories, "Christy's Reawakening," which is part of the Daydream Dome Chronicles. Here's the snippet of conversation I wrote today.

Cut for length )

I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows today. For my creative writing today, I expressed my impressions of the ending in the form of three cinquains.

Cut for SPOILERS for HP7 )
barbarafett: (Default)
I wrote a haiku and posted it directly to [livejournal.com profile] august_writing for the 4th, and completely flaked out on the 5th. I am sorry. I did write something for today, though. It's a scene from one of my fanfiction works-in-progress, Life After High School.

Here's Part 3, and with this installment, the story's done! Tomorrow: either a different short story, or part of Life After High School.

The Rising Tide of Piracy (Part 3) )

Here's what I wrote today, August 2.

The Rising Tide of Piracy (Part 2) )
barbarafett: (Tia+Davy)
I'm late posting this because I was traveling all day on the 1st. I wrote this first part of my newest story in a notebook on the plane, then typed it up today.

This story is part of my ongoing fanfiction series, The Daydream Dome Chronicles, so I apologize if it's hard to understand. I'm ultimately going to post this story on my website as a one-shot, but for purposes of this community, I'll post each day's writing separately.
