Sailing the Ocean Blue: The Ship's Log: Day 3

3rd May, 2014 - Day 3

 

31º39'N, 68º24'W at noon.

 

Mostly clear skies. A few high, thin clouds in the distance. A few small whitecaps on the sea. 72ºF at noon.

 

W4W: Mom & I walked 2 laps together in the morning, plus 1 more together immediately after dinner. Then I did 5 more by myself later, before bed. Total for today: 3 for Mom, 8 for me.

 

Today was the first in a series of lectures on film and animation given by Mr. David Kirkpatrick, formerly a production executive at the Walt Disney Company and at Paramount Pictures. It was very interesting, and I plan to attend the rest of the series.

 

We will pass by Bermuda between 2100 and 2130 tonight.

 

Had lunch at Johnny Rockets today - there was a BOGO deal on meals today, in addition to the one Mom had on milkshakes.

 

More reading; also, finally got started on that journaling I wanted to do on this trip.

 

Guest Choir met for its first rehearsal at 1500 today. We perform near the end of the cruise as the opening act to the “Dancing With the Stripes” show. We are the backup singers on “Dancin' in the Streets.” It's 4-part harmony, and I'm having fun with it.

 

This morning, EM and LM came in 2nd in the “Copy Cat” game show event, and in the afternoon, I was on their team for trivia and we also came in 2nd. Also, EM beat me at Scrabble, as he always does.

 

After dinner, most of our tour group got together for the first round of our shuffleboard tournament. We played three matches. The S.es beat JA* and EA 21-7; CH & LM beat me and Mom 16-14; and the S.T.s** beat R. and LL 21-7. It was really fun to spend that time with that group of people. After that, several of us went to hang out at Boleros and listen to music.
