W.O.M.B.A.T.s!!!
Oct. 6th, 2006 06:08 pmAs most people in the Harry Potter online fan community know, the grades from the most recent round of WOMBATs came out today. For those who don't know, the WOMBATs (Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Tests) are a series of three tests found on JKRowling.com. The tests measure your knowledge of Rowling's Wizarding World and gauge how well you would survive there. Each test is available only once; the first came out on March 31, 2006, the second on September 29, 2006, and the third will be available at a later date, yet to be announced.
This second round was my first time taking a WOMBAT exam; I wasn't following JKR's site when the first one was released, so I didn't know about it. I stayed up past midnight last Friday night (the night it was released) taking the test, and I had a really good time. To answer most of the questions, I had to use my common sense and make inferences based on my knowledge of the Harry Potter books. I was glad I had reread them all so recently.
I just printed out my WOMBAT grade certificate a few minutes ago. I got an Outstanding! That's the highest grade you can get in the OWL exam system from the books, which is also being used to grade the WOMBATs. I'm so happy!!! I didn't think I was going to do so well, because I hadn't reread the two 'textbooks' that supplement the series when I was rereading the series itself, and a lot of the questions had to do with magical creatures. This is so cool! I can't wait for the next round!
